Day 5: Bornholm - The southern end

so the sun came up into a beautiful blue sky - how long can this last.

after a great breakfast spread, Maggie and I set off to Aakirkeby, then wiggled along some beautiful bike paths thru forests and farmlands until we came to Svaneke - apparently the most beautiful town in all the world!  well, pretty close I reckon....

saw windmills and even got to have a look in one (entry fee $5) which was until recently a working flour mill, but they just can't compete with the big guys, so it generates their electricity now.

a long day, just topping the 100km by 3km... and as usual I dawdled in the beginning and had to spin the pedals to get back to Ronne by 6pm.

found a cafe where I ordered a egg burger (I heard to the chef say wahhhh???!!!) but there was nothing on the menu for vegetarians!!!  and washed it down with 500ml of the classic Bornholm beer - a tad heavy for me - but still hit the spot.

am running late for breakfast this morning, so am uploading some photos now and will get back to putting captions on them - or not!!

  1. Hi Chris. I am now up to date on the Great Swedish Bike Trail. Such a beautiful country and the weather looks amazing. The sky looks so blue, it is a bit like Australia, very different from Europe. The foods looks pretty good too, Enjoy!
    Cheers

  2. Hej
More great photos. Love the Viking carved into stone. Can't wait to find out what those tiny plastic things are? Swedish bower bird?
