Swanning around in Swansea

Wifi is an elusive thing - quite often they say - Yes, there's free wifi...  but often it doesn't work very well...  check emails OK - but posting on my blog is almost impossible, maybe some words but no photos...  But tonight here in a very comfy backpackers in Bicheno, it looks pretty good...  so some catching up.

After communing with the wombats, I was back on the mainland and nothing that exciting could happen ever again - maybe!

My ride to Swansea was nice and short, about 50km - and the weather couldn't work out if it would rain or not...  but the main wonderful thing was the wind - Still!!!  coming from behind!

Riding along a major road can be a tad boring.  First there was some farmlands, an occasional vineyard or two.  there was even a fence of shoes!  ???  no idea!!!

but the road wound right back to the coast - and also climbed up the cliff.  I managed to get off the road a couple of times to peer over to the edge to look for sea birds - only saw a couple of immature Pacific Gulls - they are so big!

Not far out of Swansea was the Spikey Bridge - a very old convict-built bridge of stone - rather interestingly decorated by sharp spikes of slate.  and interesting the way they left the gap for the small creek to trickle through...

I cruised into Swansea and down to the Swansea Waterloo Motel..  even got a restaurant.  no worries!  but after I clean up and went down to the restaurant, I was informed that the chef wasn't able to make anything for a vegetarian.  Of course, I could eat the salad from the buffet - limp lettuce and smothered coleslaw - I decided that a tin of baked beans and some toast n cheese was more appetising!!  so much for gourmet food in Tasmania!!

hopefully I can upload some photos tonight!

not much shoulder on this road and too much traffic

now what can the meaning be - where did all these shoes come from?

Looking for any little twittery birds, but nothing
