Day 2 - to Stogadul - at 600m - puff!

(photos at the end!  - haven't time to insert into text!)

it started out a glorious day and I was on the road at 7:30!  but that means that there's nothing open - cafes serving breakfast open at 8.  so I remembered my Japanese days and bought a coffee (not in a can) in a cardboard box and sculled that down and toot toot I was on my way.

the first 30 km was glorious.  lovely weather and the road snaked alongside the River Nea - nice and flat with an occasional uphilly bit, but nothing to worry about.  the river was to my right, so I decided to change the go-pro onto the rightside handle bar.  this meant moving the attachment for the bag to the left then the computer as much to the right and squeezing the clamp in between.  but I noticed that the 23km or so I had already done had been wiped from the computer.... dang it!  but off I go and discover that not far along from here, there's a bit of a climb and squeek squeek groan, i made it to the top - good ole granny gears.  but the down wasn't that spectacular and now followed by another climb and so on for most of the day - but still speccy country, with rivers either just gurgling along their shallow beds or ripping along, making little white caps - or plunging down the mountain side and even rushing over a waterfall just by the road!  so lots of photo stops.

but also lots of climbing up the range -  http://www.a-trip.com/tracks/view/155591 - this is the link to the gps track - and you will see that the climbs continued until I got to Stogudal - up to 600m.
now I have to check for the ride to Roros - which apparently is at 700m...  am so hoping that I don't have to go down and then up another 700m because I don't think I can do that in one day - depends on how far the down goes and how many ups are in the down - oh the joy of cycling!

I was pretty tired when the lake came in view and there were a couple of options - hotel and camping ground, but I rode on, looking for the hotel I had seen on-line.  and sure enough, there it was - just around the corner - and they had a single room and its air cond is working - yayayay!

so a rest, a shower and some blogging - in that order, before tea.  the chef made me a nice big omelette with salad and a glass of beer and time to hit the sack.

photos coming at next break - maybe!

cabin in Selbu - a bit hot and stuffy, but a comfy bed!

  1. Can't wait for the piccies. I watched a fair bit of the journey on your trip site in 3D, but couldn't find a way to speed up the journey of the little bike and got a bit worn out watching you. Ha! But the countryside I saw in 3D view looked lovely with water most of the way but not too far away from houses/villages for most of the journey.
