Day 22: Riding out to Rinkaby and then Svampen and Wådköping

An early morning ride on my own, took me north on the bike path along the way around  Hjälmaren.  It was a pleasant ride along a bike path most of the way and it was only after a good 10km of bikeway before I had to ride onto the road.  I saw the sign for Rinkaby, but then I remembered there was a rune stone somewhere out this way and wondered whether I might find it.  So turned north to Fellingsbo and rode along for awhile seeing no sign of any rune stone.
Oops - off the sealed road again! (GoPro still)
So I turned onto a smaller road for a bit of look – it turned into a forested area, so it was nice just riding through the quiet forests again.  They are so very different than our bush – with bird sounds unknown to me, tho I should know some of them by now!

Is my helmet straight? (GoPro still)
After breakfast, Anders, Karina and I strolled over to Svampen.  It’s a rather changed view now, following a suicide there earlier this year.
Svampen

No jumping allowed anymore - spoilsports!
Now the high viewing platform is temporarily fenced in with sturdy arch mesh and steel posts and black and gold tape.  Its lost its charm and is a real hassle to photograph the view.  Around the west side the wind blew in with ice on its wings!!  Brrrr!!

But once back on ground level the weather was turning quite nice and warm and sunny at last.
Anna came around for lunch and we then went into the centre to show Karina Wådköping and to do some souvenir shopping.  There’s always something interesting there – with the artist co-op as well as the standard souvenir shops. (Wådköping is an open air museum, using old buildings brought in from all over the region and set up in 18-19th century style.  Shops are run by a variety of artists and coops, plus commercial shops - very tasteful.)

Then Karina and I went shopping at the ICA MAX for Aussie tucker for our evening meal.  It took a bit longer as it’s a huge shopping centre and because everything is written in Swedish for some reason.
But we found frozen pastry, some meats (& quorn) even some golden syrup and we headed off home.  Karina was the main chef while I was the spud peeler.  She made meat pies with mashed potatoes and mushie peas and tomato sauce, followed by golden syrup dumplings.  It was well received by everyone!
don't forget the tomato sauce!
So another day in Sweden draws to an end.  We have seen and done so much in the past week, can it really only have been 7 days here?
