Day 21: Taking Karina to Rävgången, then visiting Lindesberg.

still waters - no beavers today

The sun was shining, so we headed off for a quick ride around Rävgången and Oset.  It is a much quieter place at this time of the year, compared to earlier in the summer when the birds are still on their nests and protecting their eggs or very young.  Now it was just ‘teenagers’ stuffing their faces.  But it is still a really nice place to visit and there were quite a few people out enjoying the sunshine and getting some exercise also.

After breakfast, Anders took us to Lindesberg, to catch up with some of Karina's relatives.  We had ficke with her cousine Mikke - and heard about their experiences of riding in the Runt Vattern - a non-stop bike competition around one of the biggest lakes in Sweden.  The women's section is 150km non stop and was ridden in really cold and wet conditions, whilst the men's section of 350km was completed by Mikke in about 11 hours - even with trouble with his gears.
Yep, still in Sweden
Leija - sharing a joke with me

We then drove over to Helga’s place for late lunch and to meet with Paula and her husband also.  We were charmed by their little poodle x – you know the really cute ones but still with plenty of brains – Leija.  Their Persian cat isn’t that impressed with people so we only caught glimpses of him slinking around…
Why do they keep inviting people over??

When we got home, Agnete had been busy in the kitchen preparing some proper Swedish food – meat patties with kantarella – Anders’ favourite and now maybe Karina’s too.  I was spoilt with quorn  and kantarella (freezers are great, saving some kantarella from last year!).  There were also lots of new potatoes with dill and pickled cucumber, courtesy of Ciri.  We have really been spoilt with good food all the time we have been here – biggest thanks to Agnete who is definitely in charge in the kitchen!
Kantarella fest
(Kantarella for sale in Stockholm - just so that you know what I am talking about)
(yeah, they look poisonous, but they are extremely delicious)

So another full day.
